Frank Ingari has been delivering major returns to investors in mainstream IT and in healthcare services for over 35 years. His industry focus is information technology and its application to payer, provider, pharma, and consumer markets of the U.S. healthcare system. He has been a serial entrepreneur, CEO, or board member in Nasdaq and private companies including Lotus, Microstrategy, Shiva, and Lumeris. He was an accountable care pioneer as CEO of Essence Healthcare, the first Medicare Advantage plan to achieve 5 Stars without owning a provider network.
He received 100% CEO Approval ratings on Glassdoor in 3 successive companies; was named “Best Private Company CEO” by Upside Magazine and a “50+ Innovator” by MedCity News and AARP; was a two-time regional finalist for Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year; and led a company that was named one of the “150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare” by Becker’s.
As Essence CEO, Frank grew the innovative Medicare Advantage plan from 3 stars and 8,200 members to the largest MA plan in Missouri, with membership above 50,000 and unique status as the nation’s only 5-Star Medicare Advantage plan that did not employ physicians. While CEO of Essence, he conceived and founded Lumeris, now the #1 KLAS-rated Population Health Services company. He then led the turnaround of payer-provider portal vendor NaviNet and its successful sale to NantHealth.
Frank is the founder and principal of Growth Ally, a consultancy serving venture capitalists and their companies with strategic, managerial, and interventional services; clients have included Kleiner Perkins, Greylock, Charles River, and Polaris. Growth Ally contributed to companies including iRobot, Microstrategy, RSA, Powersoft, and Sybase. Assignments included CEO and executive team evaluation, interim CEO and functional responsibility, negotiation with regulators, strategic plan development, business model evaluation, marketing and software development turnarounds, etc.
Frank has deep governance experience such as board memberships at Boston Medical Center’s Healthnet Managed Medicaid plan, Sybase, Microstrategy, Essence Group Holdings, Lumeris, NaviNet, Shiva, and PowerSoft. He participated in many funding and liquidity events, including five IPOs, several secondaries, both sides of corporate M&A, and every stage of venture capital.
Frank holds an undergraduate degree in American History and American Literature from Cornell University. He is an avid amateur musician and father of 4.
